Varsity Tourney 4/29/09
Lets re-group and win out the losers bracket. It was just a tough night where nothing went our way. I made some mistakes too, and I will work hard to not make them again! N. Franklin just played good and hit the ball well. We are not out of this thing yet. Lets make some noise and get to the championship the hard way. Every team we beat now we send home! Lets send some teams home and get some revenge! I'm not giving up on you guys, don't give up on us. You can do it. grey pants, red vests, black under shirt, black accessories, red hat. Good luck tomorrow and don't let up the fight! Coach Floied
Varsity Tourney uniforms
All players attending the varsity tourney needs to wear black vest, black under armor, white pants, black belt and socks, white hat. Varsity players, lets get ready to rock in Franklin Co. You have had a break to rest up, now lets bring it to everybody we face in the tourney. Play with a sense of urgency, this could be the last time you take the field as a CCMS Raider again! Leave everything you have on the field, don't leave the game feeling like you did'nt give your all. As Yogi Berra said, "always give 100%, when thats gone, give more"! Me and Coach Meeker are going to coach our butts off, you guys give everything you have and you will be champions! Coach Floied
Junior Varsity "Congratulations"
First off I want to say to each of the JV players "CONGRATULATIONS"! The beginning of the season started off showing that we had alot to learn and it was hard considering that we couldn't get a full game in and then we were hit by mother nature. But you young men never gave up and you supported your Varsity teammates just waiting for your chance to play. When we did get our chance and were able to string some games together without inturuptions from the rain you showed everyone what you could do. As a coach this has been one of the most trying seasons I have ever coached due to all of the re-scheduling because of the rain and taking on a 6th grade team as well. But in the end I would not take anything for the memories that we got to share this year as a CCMS Baseball Team. Now lets talk about the tournament, what you young men did was pretty amazing we played 4 games in 2 days, 3 of them were played on Saturday and they were back to back to back, and as each game went on we got better and better. We gave Tullahoma a little taste of what they will be seeing next year and I know they are worried. But we have to remember they are going to work hard to try and stop us from beating them next year so we will have to work just as hard if not harder. Great ball players are made in the off season, so I am challenging each of you to work extra hard on the things you know you need to get better at. As a coach I have things that I need to get better at as well and I will work hard on preparing myself for next year. I beleive if each of you work hard in the off season next year's team could be the next CCMS team to go undefeated. I want to thank each of you for all of your dedication and hard work, I hope that each of you learned alot about baseball this year, but most of all I hope each of you had fun. I wish the best of luck to each of you for which ever team you play for in Babe Ruth, travel ball and or little league. Represent CCMS baseball always and I will see each of you at the Varsity tournament or at awards night on May 7th. Thanks again for a great season "GO RAIDERS"!
JV Tourney !!! 2nd place
Great job JV, you guys fought hard and I am very proud of what you accomplished. That was a small taste of what next years team will look like. You guys earned a nice trophy for your school, be proud of it! T_______ better get used to it! This has been a tough season, not getting in many games has made it rough. I hope you guys had fun and learned more about baseball at the next level. Work hard during the off season and be prepared for tryouts in August. I am proud of you guys and lets have fun on the 13 th at Boskey's. See you during the varsity tourney or at awards night on the 7 th. Remember, wherever you go after school ball, ie.. little league, babe ruth, etc., you guys represent CCMS Baseball! Represent us well and show the pride of wearing the red and black! Good Luck. Coach Floied
JV Tourney
The JV squad starts their bid for a championship in the conference tournament on Friday, 24 th, at Waggoner Park in T___________. The first game is at 5 pm, I hope to see alot of support for these guys, they have a really good shot at winning it! We are going retro, wearing the "old school" vest in the first game. Players wear grey pants with silver hitting center shirt, black vest with black accessories and red hat. You guys need to work hard and play as a team and you can take it to whomever we play. As old N.B. Forrest said, "no matter how few of us, or how many of them, show FIGHT!" Lets bring it to em, hhooooaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!! Coach Floied
tough game !!!
Wednesdays game vs. T_________ was a tough loss. Myself and Coach Meeker still believe in you guys, these tough games will make you better, learn from them and improve as a team. We wrapped up 2 nd place in the conference, and have the team that can win the tournament! Lets support the JV squad in their tourney and practice hard for the varsity tourney. Mark wanted to apologize to everybody for what happened at the game. Mark, we love you and keep up the support you have been showing the team all year. It was a tough loss and I certainly understand how you felt! At least it didn't cost you a game and $250.00! JV will start their tourney Friday, and it should end Saturday. Good luck guys, you can win it all! Varsity tourney will start Monday or Tuesday, good luck to you guys also. Coach Floied
8th grade night a success
WOW, what a night of baseball! You guys showed up in a big way and broke out the bats to gain some momentum for the varsity and JV tournaments. Lance and Justen, you both looked great on the hill and kept the runs to only 4. Defense was pretty good, but the offense was "off the hook"! Great hitting, putting up 19 runs was amazing and the base running was awesome. Way to break out of the slump Justen, it was great to see you get that hit out of the way. Great to see the support from the 6th graders at the game, and the parents and fans were awesome. And to the "voice of the CCMS Raiders", Mark Holder, you have made and impression of every team we have played this year, and our players. You will be remembered for a long time, we need to hire you for next year. (have you signed a contract yet?) You help make the game the way it is supposed to be, FUN! Thank you for doing what you do. Varsity wins : 19 - 4 JV, you guys have had a taste of winning and I think you like what it taste like. Keep up the hard work and keep the momentum going into the tournament. You have a really great shot at winning the tourney, don't give up and fight for your team, your school, your coaches, and yourself! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! JV wins : 6 - 3 Varsity, lets bring it to T_________ tomorrow, get a victory against our rivals and turn some heads going into the tournament. Coach Floied
CCMS programs for sale
Mary Beth still has some baseball programs for sale. We need to sale these asap, the money goes into the booster account. The cost has dropped to $3.00 each. These make great mementos for family members and the players. See Mary Beth Johnson to get these before they are gone.
8th grade night
Lets have a big turnout for 8 th grade night Tuesday night. Parents, lets get some family members here to cheer on these 8 th graders who will be playing their last home game. Players, lets get our friends to show up and support the team also. 6 th graders, you need to show up and be part of the game! You are a part of this team and I hope to see you here, wear your Raider gear and support your teammates. You will be in their shoes in 2 years and playing your last game as a CCMS Raider. I am proud to have been able to coach these guys, and I wish them all of the success they deserve in the future. I will coach my BUTT off Tuesday night and we will fight for a victory against Grundy Co.! This also has become a tradition for the 8 th graders and their parents, it is a special night and I hope all goes well. Coach Floied
vs. N. Franklin, win 3 - 2 !!!
What a game Monday night, beating N. Franklin in another close game. Varsity, way to go, you guys did not give up and kept the fight going. We were able to save some pitching for Grundy Co. Tuesday night. Tyler, Cody and Justen, you guys did a great job pitching and kept us in the game by allowing only 2 runs. We are still struggling with our bats, but we strung enough hits together in the bottom of the 7 th to tie and take the lead for the win. Great job not quitting and building some momentum for the varsity tourney. JV, you guys are building some momentum also, another great win for you. Coach Meeker has been working hard on finding the right line-up and I think he is very close. You guys are looking really strong, you are putting the hits together at the right time and taking advantage of the runners on base. Keep up the hard work, you have a 1st round bye in the tourney, take advantage of that and you can win it all! (you can thank Coach Meeker for the bye, he drew 1st) JV wins 3 - 1. Coach Floied
Boskey's / banquet / May 13th
The baseball banquet will be May 13 th, the players need to be at Boskey's at 5:30 pm, with dinner starting at 6pm. The dinner is for Varsity, JV and 6th grade players. Dinner will last till 7:30 - 7:45, with the Varsity and JV players taking the annual bus trip starting at 8pm, with the bus bringing them back to CCMS parking lot at 10:00 pm. 6 th graders, this is something to shoot for, work hard during the off season, get better and make the team next year as a JV player and you will be part of the trip also. (the bus is not large enough for all 3 squads) This has become a tradition for Varsity and JV. See you guys at Boskey's.
Tullahoma Game & JV Tournament
The Tullahoma game that was scheduled for Sunday will now be played on Wednesday, April 22 at 5 pm at the Tullahoma Babe Ruth field. This will be a Varsity only game. There will be a bus leaving CCMS on Wednesday at 3:30 pm, but there will be no transportation back--parents must pick up players in Tullahoma at the Babe Ruth field. JV players are welcome to come as long as parents pick them up. The JV tournament will begin on Friday at the Babe Ruth field. Our first game is at 5pm. Again, there will be a bus for transport to the game, but not home; parents must pick players up at the Tullahoma Babe Ruth field. This tournament is double elimination with the last game scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at 7pm.
victory vs. Warren Co., (V) 9 - 3, (JV) 6 - 1
Congratulations on two impressive victories last night! Varsity finally "put a team away" by putting some runs on the board. We saved some pitching with Lance going 1 1/2 innings, Peyton with 2 1/2 and Cody made his return with 3 strong innings. Cody, glad to see you back "toting the rock"! Glad to see you guys have fun and score some runs. We are still making some silly mistakes we have to correct before the tournemant starts, but a win is a win and I will take them however I can get them. JV, a VERY impressive win. Kyle looked good on the mound pitching 3 innings and Garrett looked strong closing it out in the final 2 innings. JV finally got the bats going and we finally were able to jump on a team in the 1st inning, putting up 5 runs. Matt went 3 for 3 and how about our late season addition, Colton Norrod, hitting 3 for 3 with two doubles! Glad your here Colton and way to show what your made of! Both teams looked good, but we can't let up, we have to get better every game, stop making the little mistakes and prepare for the post-season tourney. You guys showed you can compete, and are capable of beating any team in the district. Lets keep it going today (Sat.), and play some Coffee County baseball. JV, you've got two good games today, show up and keep the momentum going. Varsity, you guys have to win out, beat the teams you're supposed to beat, and we will be in good shape for the tourney. No mistakes today, lets play fundamental baseball! Good luck. Coach Floied
Saturday, April 18-Babe Ruth Field Games
There will be a JV game against Christiana at 11 am on Saturday, April 18 at the Babe Ruth field. The Warren Co games at the Babe Ruth field also scheduled for Saturday are now scheduled to begin at 3pm. One other note--the double header games against Tullahoma scheduled for Sunday, April 19 are now to begin at 3pm.
vs. Warren Co. (Friday)
We will leave after school on a bus for the Friday game vs. Warren Co. The bus has to leave back to Coffee County early, so we will have no bus for the trip back home. I need to know who can help bring some players back home that may not have a ride. If you would just be prepared for that and check with me after the game to make sure everyone has a ride home. Away uniforms, grey with black accessories, red hat. Thanks in advance. Coach Floied
Big win vs. N. Franklin !!! 4 - 3
What a game! We pulled out a victory against a tough N. Franklin team. Tyler pitched 4 strong innings and Justen, like he has done all year, came in and pitched very consistent! We left way too many runners on base, and I guess I did not find that magic line-up ( haha). I will find it before the tournament! We struggled getting runners home and could not get a BUNT down, but I am proud of the resolve this team has. They did not quit the fight and it payed off, getting the win in the bottom of the 7 th. I think I lost about 5 years of my life during this game, but it was worth the win! N. Franklin comes back here Monday afternoon for another double-header, and they will be hungry for a win! We can't let them hang around, we need to put them away early and take advantage of the runners on base. "How about that ear hole Cody?". . . great time for a big hit! Glad to have you back in the line-up. Coach Floied
Baseball banquet at Boskey's

The booster club is paying for the players meals, parents are responsible for theirs. Parents meal cost is $12.00 each. Mary Beth needs to have collected the parents money by the 21st, (8 th grade night). You can contact her by e-mail : craigmarybeth@aol.com, or cell phone 931-952-3134
N. Franklin re-schedule for 4/15/09
The N. Franklin game that was cancelled today has been re-scheduled for tomorrow (15 th). It will be a home game, that benefits us because we will still play them on the 20 th at home. They agreed to come here for their home game. That was a no brainer, we have to get the conference games in and if they were willing to play their game here, bring them on! It will be a varsity / junior varsity game. Game time is 6 pm, varsity needs to be at high school at 5 pm, junior varsity can arrive at 6 pm., home uniforms (white w/white hats, red accessories). The previously scheduled JV double-header vs. T__________ is cancelled, we will try to make it up if we have room before the tournament.
vs. N. Franklin cancelled !!!!! 4/14/09
Can you believe this, today's game vs. N. Franklin has been cancelled! The field was apparently too wet to prepare for a game? Sorry for the late notice, we just found out. We may practice this afternoon on the babe ruth field if its open, we will notify you asap. Coach Floied
Athletic Awards Ceremony
The athletic awards ceremony will be held at the CCMS gym on May 7 th, at 6pm. All baseball players, 6 th grade, JV and Varsity are required to attend. Coach Floied
vs. St. Paul, win 7 - 5 !
Good game to start the last stretch of the season with. We knocked some rust off from spring break. Justen looked great with the start and has shown great consistency so far this year. Lance came in and gave a good middle relief of 3 innings. And I was proud of Matthew closing the game for us, he did a good job of keeping his cool espically with the rain coming down! We were able to save pitching for tomorrows game vs. North Franklin. Our bats were average, I felt we did really good base running. These guys are coming around and are getting better every game they play. Scrambling around the line-up may make a difference for us, were still looking for that magic order that works the best. Some of us "knuckle-heads" have to get our bats going before the tourneys start! Defense was pretty solid, we only had a few errors, but did make some good plays. Lets stop the errors and make the routine outs, then the "all-star" plays will make a difference. JV, what can I say? You guys have been getting the short end of the stick all year. I'm sorry guys, lets hope for good weather this week and you will make up those games. I checked the forecast and it looks good for the next week, keep your fingers crossed. Lets keep the momentum going, and win the games you are supposed to win! Get better every game, and by the tourney, be the best team there! Go get 'em tomorrow! Coach Adam
6th grade team
Let me say, I am proud that we developed a 6 th grade program, it did have its bumps and bruises, but it was a learning experience for myself as a coach and I am proud of the commitment these boys showed. I do hate that their season is over, but I must say that the last game is a very memorable one for me! We as coaches are not perfect, and I still haven't figured out how to make it not rain? I appreciate all of the work you parents put into this season, and I encourage you 6 th graders to try out for JV next year, the hard work will pay off. You guys will be a step ahead of everyone else for playing the small amount that you have. We could blame several things for the season to be over, but we have to move on and not dwell on it. It wouldn't do any good anyways! I would love to have our own field to play on, that would solve some problems, but I don't and we have to deal with it. It has been a challenge for myself and Coach Meeker to schedule 3 teams, not to mention, fit in the re-schedules on a field we share with the high school. And lets not get me started on the babe ruth field! But, this is life, and like I said, a learning experience for myself. If anybody wants to talk about, or has concerns about this season, feel free to call myself, I will do my best to explain the situation. I'll end with this, I am very, very proud of you 6 th graders. You showed some people that you CAN be competitive on the "big field" and CAN pitch from the "big mound"! I am honored that you parents trusted me and my coaching staff with your children, and you will continue to trust us into summer ball. Lets get stronger during the off season and I think these guys will be the cream of the crop in next years try-outs due to the hard work they went through this year! Thank you again parents for your hard work, these programs don't run without your work and dedication. And to my 6 th graders, wherever you play ball this summer, represent the CCMS Red Raiders well and I wish you the best of luck! See you guys at awards day and the team banquet. I'll post those dates when they are made definite. Coach Adam
6th Grade Season - Remaining Games Canceled
The remaining 6th grade games are now canceled due to the need to play all Varsity/JV games this season. All 6th grade equipment & uniforms should be turned into Coach Harris by Wednesday, April 15. All 6th grade players are now released.
4/15/09 vs St. Paul (home)
Lets keep our fingers crossed for good weather Monday! The forecast is calling for heavy rain and thunderstorms. (imagine that!) The field will have the full tarp on it, so if the rain quits we may can uncover the field and still play. Lets be at the field at 4:30 pm so we can get the tarp off if the skies clear up. We will need all of the help from the dads to get it off if its covered in water. Game starts at 6 pm, its a varsity / junior varsity game. Wear home uniforms, white with red accessories and white hat. See ya tomorrow. Coach Floied
Practice Saturday, April 11
There will be a mandatory practice on Saturday, April 11 at the Babe Ruth field. Sixth grade is 1-3pm and JV/Varsity is 3-6pm.
Games Rescheduled in April
The following rainout games have been rescheduled in April: April 17-Away at Warren Co V/JV at 4:30pm; April 18-Home against Warren Co V/JV 5pm at the Babe Ruth field; and April 19 at Tullahoma V/JV at 2pm. Also, the game against Tullahoma on April 15 is now a JV double-header--no 6th grade.
6th grade travel team (end of year)
The travel team that was proposed for the 6 th graders is still a "go". The travel team has nothing to do with the school team. There are several rumors going around and I want to squash those now! There WILL be a travel team, and we WILL have enough players to field the team. If you need to re-think your commitment, or just have a question or concern, PLEASE contact Coach Floied, Prater or Booth. We will not do anything connected with this travel team until the school season is over and the players are released. Coach Floied
Spring Break !!!
There is nothing scheduled during the week of spring break. However; we may hold a few VOLUNTARY hitting practices. We will notify everyone via texts or this blog. Enjoy the break, if the weather lets us, the rest of the month will be busy with several games to squeeze in. The Tullahoma game is rescheduled for the 19 th, lets hope we get them all in before the tournaments start. We will probably practice on Sat. (11th) or Sun (12th) to knock the rust off from spring break, it will be a mandatory practice. We will watch the weather and make plans accordingly. Coach Floied
Game FREAKING cancelled, again!!!
Just found out at 4 pm that todays game vs. T__________ has been cancelled due to water still standing on the infield and home plate. Not much I can say on this blog, most of what I have to say is not appropriate for young readers! Sorry for all of the cancellations, I have NEVER been involved in a season like this one. We will update the make-up game as soon as we can. With spring break, we may be missing some players. Would you guys either leave a comment if you will be in town over spring break or text Mrs. Meeker or myself and let us know. I am trying to not schedule games next week, but we may have to so we can get the conference games in. Trust me, the coaches are just as, if not more, frustrated than you guys, we want to play freaking ball! Coach Floied
T_________ game postponed to tomorrow (3rd)
Due to weather we are cancelled tonight, and will make the game up tomorrow, Friday (3rd). It was then or on the 7 th during spring break. We are trying to give everybody off that week, we have always tried to give the guys the week of spring break off, but this crazy weather may put a kink in those plans. We will wait and see. Be at Waggoner Park in T_________ by 4:45pm, the game is scheduled for 5:30pm. Wear away uniforms, grey with red caps. This is a huge game with major conference implications, we need all of the support there we can get. Thanks for everyone's patience with the weather, it's kinda out of our control. Good luck tomorrow and make the boys get plenty of rest tonight. See ya on the field! Coach Floied
4-2-09 vs. T___________
I just can't bring myself to type that word, no matter how hard I try, I just can't do it. Tomorrow is away and we will be riding the bus from school. We will leave the school about 3:30 and the game is at 5:00, at Waggoner Park. I was told that WMSR was going to broadcast the game live, I don't know if it's true but keep your ears open for it. The weather is calling for a 70% chance of rain, we will let you know via text and this blog as soon as we know if the game is cancelled. Lets show up and support these guys, this is an intense rivalry that will not go away as long as I am coaching! Coach Floied
Way to break out BIG varsity!!!!
Varsity, way to break out some runs in a BIG way! S. Franklin didn't know what hit them, we went into their house and put a Raider whipping on them! I'm proud of how these guys responded to the loss to T_____ (I can't bring myself to type that word) . Varsity kept the momentum from the 6 th grade game and put 17 runs on the board against S. Franklin. Pitching was good, defense still needs some work, we did hit the ball better than we have been. I was glad we was able to let the JV guys who traveled with us to get into the game. They responded and made some good plays and contributed on offense. Overall it was a good night for Coffee County baseball, we won, the freshman team won against Shelbyville, and the high school beat Lincoln Co. by the 10 run rule with 2 homers (Pearson & Harris). Now lets keep this momentum going against T______, and get another conference win! You guys can do it, you are capable of beating any team in our conference! Believe in yourselves and support each other. "The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don't play together, the club wont be worth a dime." -Babe Ruth I believe in you, and I WILL fight the world for you! What you guys have in front of you is greatness, all you have to do is grab it! Lets bring it to T________ tomorrow, leave it all on the field and we will be victorious! Coach Floied
