St. Paul , Tuesday, 30th
We play St. Paul at the city park in Tullahoma on Tuesday afternoon. Varsity be there by 5 p.m., gametime is 6 p.m., JV, I would like you to be there around 6 p.m., no later than 6:45 p.m. Wear grey uniforms with black acces. and black hat. Lets keep the winning streak going. We have a couple of guys who have been either sick or dealing with an injury, this would be a great game to work them back into the line-up and get them some time both hitting and in the field. Keep the great attitudes and work ethic up. You showed some class last weekend with the win over Tullahoma, don't let up, keep the pressure on everybody else and work towards the goals we set. The target is on your back this year. I'm very proud of you guys this far. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! N.U.O.S.U. Coach Floied
CCMS Raiders Varsity vs Tullahoma Wildcats Varsity 3/27/10
This was the game that the Coffee County Middle School Raider Varsity team has been waiting for. The Raiders undefeated in conference play 2-0 were ready to battle against their cross town rival Tullahoma Wildcats. For the Raiders, Peyton Meeker, in his 1st start of the year, took the mound and controled the Wildcats offense. He threw 5 strong innings giving up 4 earned runs and 4 unearned runs on 5 hits with 3 walks and 4 K's. Garrett Sadler came in the top of the 6th to put the final nails in the coffin, pitching 2 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit with 1 walk and 1 K. Both pitchers did an outstanding job on the mound and the defense played well. There were a few errors made but the defense never got rattled and held their ground. For the outfield the strong winds made it tough to judge the ball but they made the plays when needed. On offense the Raiders were patient in the box making the Tullahoma pitchers work. When a hit was needed it was there and scored the runs. The Raiders went through 3 of Tullahoma pitchers Groves, Banks and Sheffield and damage was done to each of them. OFFENSIVE STATS FOR THE RAIDERS: Barham - 1 hit with 1 walk & 3 stolen bases and 3 scores Deford - 1 walk a 1 run scored Meeker - 2 hits with 1 RBI & 1 walk with 3 stolen bases and 2 scores Norrod - 4 walks with 1 stolen base and 1 score Fulks - 1 hit with 1 RBI and 2 scores Sadler - 2 hits with 1 RBI, 2 stolen bases and 2 scores Holder - 2 walks and 1 score Kyle Johnson - 2 walks with 1 score Kain Johnson - 1 hit, 2 walks and 1 score After the winds calmed down and the dust settled the Raiders walked away with the victory over Tullahoma 14 to 8. I am proud of how these young men prepare themselves before each game. This game was big and we needed this win to get the Tullahoma past losses off of our backs. Now we need to regain our focus, we have played 3 conference games and came away with 3 victories, each of them being very important. Lets keep the momentum rolling and continue on our goal for the perfect season. The leadership on this team is getting stronger and the teamwork is starting to gel. I am very proud and honored to be part of this team. Stay focused and continue working hard to reach a goal that most teams can only dream about. YOU CAN DO IT!! FINISH STRONG RAIDERS!!!
vs Tullahoma JV (game summary)
It was a tough night for the JV squad. We have played everybody well except for Tullahoma's JV, they have had our number so far. There were a few bright spots in the game. Pitching : Harryman = 1 1/3 innings with 3 K's, Thurmond 2 2/3 innings with 4 k's, Duncan 1 inning, Bryan 1 2/3 innings with 1 K. The only way we will get better pitching is to get on the mound and do it, there is room for improvement, but we are keeping a close eye on the JV pitch count and getting everyone the experience they need. Hitting : Prater drew 2 walks & a score, Sain drew 1 walk and 2 stolen bases, Duncan 1 hit, Holmes 1 RBI, Rob and Duke 1 hit each, with Duke getting across the plate for another score. Fielding : Henley made a couple of good plays at second, Slater made a nice play at third, Day made a good grab at second. I was proud of our 6 th graders, for the last 2 innings Coach Meeker put in an all 6 th grade infield, and they did a great job! Remember, the purpose of the JV is to get better prepared for varsity. I think we have a good "core" of players to work with, and a good "core" of 6 th graders to build next years JV team around. Lets keep working hard and getting better each game, there are alot of games left in the season. Work hard Monday afternoon against Seigel, they will be a very well coached team. Show them what you are capable of doing. Coach Floied
Saturday vs Tullahoma
We will take off tonight, rest and spend some time with your family. Get some good sleep and be at the hitting center at 11:30 am, we will hit and eat lunch before the game. Varsity wear grey pants with black acces. and black vest, black hat. JV wear grey uniforms with black acces. and black hat. Its another conference game, lets get the bats loose in the hitting center and have some fun. See you guys tomorrow. Coach Floied
Friday vs Seigel JV double header
Friday is a JV double header vs Seigel. We do not have a bus for this game, so parents will have to drive. Be at school by 3:10pm, we need to try to get there by 4 pm. We will wear grey uniforms with black acces and black hat. Their field does not have lights, thats why we need to get there asap. I have no word if it will be cancelled, I don't know if they have a field tarp or if their field drains well. I will let you know when I find out if it is called off. Coach Floied
Harris game - March 25
Today's games against Harris are canceled.
Thursday game vs. Harris (25th)
We will be leaving after school for our game vs. Harris. We will have a bus for transportation. We will wear grey uniforms with black acces. and black hat. Lets keep the winning streak alive with another big conference win. Harris beat Tullahoma this week, so the target is on our back. Hopefully the rain will hold off, we will let everyone know if it is cancelled ASAP. Go Raiders, Coach Floied
Tuesday practice
On Tuesday, the 23rd, we will practice after school. We will go directly to the Coffee County Funeral Chapel to show our respect to the Deford family. We will wear our grey uniforms with black acces. and black hat. Bring your practice uniform to change into after. It is with a heavy heart that I say that a friend and outstanding person in our community has passed away. "Jug" Deford passed away from a heart attack Monday afternoon. He was a "legend" in the baseball community, he was a professional scout for several major league teams, mostly the Houston Astros and L.A. Dodgers. He also helped several local players (of all ages), and helped the Coffee County High School for some years instructing their pitchers. His grandson is Garrett Deford, one of our varsity players. Please pray for the Deford family. We will practice till around 7 p.m. Thanks, Coach Floied
Way to bounce back Junior Varsity!
I have to say that this young team has alot of determination, after losing to Tullahoma on Friday night you young men came in on Saturday and showed what you can do. I think we still have a few positions to iron out and tweak the batting order just a little and then we will be heading in the right direction. The pitchers did a great job Saturday night against Harris, Day a true 6th grader started on the mound gave us 2 great innings and showed alot of promise for the future. Tanner you have really impressed me with your calm approach on the mound and your ability to hit your locations. Our base running has improved big time, but we still need to work on getting the signs. The bats have gotten a little better, we just need to remember to be more selective and not swing and the balls over our hands. But like I said this was a good win and this JV group is showing some good improvements. I also want to give out a shout to the outfield you 3 played a great game, everyone is moving after each pitch and we are making some great catches. Infield hats off to you guys as well I know I have been moving some of you around but you seem to be adjusting fine. Booth what can I say you have really taken this team under your arm, work on that blocking and you will make one heck of a Varsity player next year. I am very proud of each of you in your own special way. Please understand that I am trying to get each of you as much playing time as possible. As a coach I have always said to myself to put the best players on the field, well when you have 17 best players its very hard to decide who and when to put you in. I will do my best to give everyone an equal shot. My job as your coach is to teach you the proper way to play the game of baseball, teach you how to take a loss and learn from it, teach you to be respectable on and off the field, teach you how to win and better prepare you for your future baseball careers. Lets keep the winning streak going Monday night against North!! Break it down, RAIDERS on 3 1, 2, 3, RAIDERS!!
Heck of a game VARSITY!!
I just wanted to let you Varsity players know how proud I am of each of you for the never say die attitude Saturday night against Harris. That was a very impressive win that took a few years off of my life. This team has a lot of talent and alot of potential and you young men showed that. You never gave up and the Captians on this team pumped their teammates up and that helped pushed this team to a very important conference win. If we can continue with a never say die attitude we may obtain the PERFECT season, and I truly beleive this team can do that. There are several kids that need to be congratulated but in the end it was truly a team win. The top of the order hit when they needed to and so did the middle and bottom of the order. We need to enjoy this win but we also need to remember we have another important conference game on Monday night against North. Lets keep this rally going RAIDERS and reach the goal of a perfect season. A great team will always find a way to win and you guy's did, always remember if you doubt yourself your done. You didn't doubt yourselves thats why we won. BREAK IT DOWN, RAIDERS ON 3, 1, 2, 3 RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!
Monday, 22nd, vs. North
We play North on Monday, the 22 nd at 6 p.m. It is a home game, players need to be at the high school field by 5 p.m. This will be a Varsity/JV double-header. Players wear white uniforms with red belt, socks and hat. Good luck, play hard, Coach Floied
Saturday vs. Harris
First, I am proud of how the boys fought Saturday vs. Harris. They struggled, but did not give up. It was a great game and I give Harris much respect, they played very well and gave us all we wanted. Coming back in the bottom of the 7th to win it made for an exciting game. Now understand this parents (& players), I will always fight hard for this team, no matter the cost. They work very hard and give up so much to play this game, I will take up for them when someone tries to slight them. I would not change one single thing about how I handled Saturday's game. I hope I represent this team, this school and you parents well. This game is about the boys playing it, not me. Now, lets play hard and keep the winning streak going! Coach Floied
Friday game vs. South varsity & Tullahoma JV
We play South varsity Friday at 6 p.m., South does not have a JV squad, so Tullahoma is bringing their JV squad to play after the varsity game. We will wear grey uniforms with black belt, socks and hat. Thanks, Coach Floied

We will practice after school tomorrow on the high school field. Players bring your equipment to school, we will have a bus take us to the field. Coach Floied
Hitting Center Practice Tuesday 3-16
There will be practice at the hitting center today. The JV will practice from 5:00 until 6:30, and the Varsity will practice from 6:30 until 8pm.
hitting center Sunday.....
Sorry for the inconvenience and the confusion for Sunday's called practice in the hitting center. Once again we have to work around other teams schedules, this time Westwood had scheduled to be in the hitting center and we did not know about it. So, in other words, we got bumped by Westwood in the hitting center......don't know what to say without getting into trouble. I hope that one day our team will at least have it's own field and not have the burden of working around other teams schedules, including teams that are not even in our school system! I know it is frustrating for you parents, it is equally as frustrating for us coaches. Thanks for your understanding and support, we will make the best of it. My apologies, Coach Floied
Sat. JV game cancelled...
Due to weather, the field is too wet and it will cause too much damage if we play on it today. It is cancelled and you will be notified of a make-up date. Thanks, Coach Floied
Friday practice
Varsity will practice in the hitting center from 6 to 7, JV will practice from 7 till 8:30. Thanks. Sorry for the late notice, but I have to wait and schedule around high schools practice. Coach Floied
Opening night vs. St. Paul
It was a good way to start the regular season with a win against St. Paul. It was not the best baseball we are capable of playing, but it was a win. I am proud of the varsity players for working hard. JV played very well, for it to only be 4 innings I am glad we were able to get everyone in the game. JV looked really well, hit the ball and ran the bases very good. We will take tomorrow off, enjoy the break and we will try to practice Thursday or Friday. Coach Floied
Wednesday vs. St. Paul
We play St. Paul on Wednesday, the 10 th, at the high school. I want varsity at the field by 5 p.m., and JV there by 6 p.m. We will wear white uniforms with red accessories and red hat. I hope the weather slacks off, we have the field covered, so if it clears up I may need some help removing the tarp. If the high school practices, then they will be there to help. Thanks in advance. Coach Floied
Cody Holder Invitational
The Cody Holder Invitational was a HUGE success! "Thank you" to everyone who helped make it happen. It was a long weekend, but well worth it. I am proud of how we played Saturday against a very good Avery Trace team. To get a victory on such a big night, with Cody throwing out the first pitch, and with all of the emotions in the air, took alot of concentration and focus. I thought it was really cool to see all of the teams who came back to the field to participate in the pre-game ceremony. Some of these guys played against Cody and these coaches watched him pick apart their team while pitching for us. "Thanks" to those teams. There were not many dry eyes in the house. It took a great amount of courage to do what Cody did, I am very proud of him. He is a true "Red Raider"! It was also great to hear Mark back on the microphone, he sure makes it fun for the parents and the players. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we may have broke a record of past playday tournaments. Thanks to the parents who gave up their weekend for the team, and thanks to the players, there were several who worked whether they were on the schedule or not. That kind of dedication is good to see, and sets a good example for the younger guys. And thanks to the teams and their fans who came and played, without them it would not be a success. Lets get the season started, Coach Floied
another good night, tourney, Saturday
Another great night with a great turnout. We had plenty of help and the kids did awesome with the field work. Saturday is a big day! It will be a long day topped off with two games at the end. Varsity wear white pants, red vest, red belt and socks. JV wear white uniforms with red belt and socks. Lets work hard and play harder! Coach Floied
Cody Holder Tourney
Tonight kicked off the Cody Holder Tournament. It was a very successful night, I appreciate all of the parent volunteers who showed up, and the players who showed up to help. There were several who worked that were not on the schedule, I really like the leadership and dedication I am seeing from some of you guys. Lets make tomorrow another good night and I am looking forward to seeing Cody throw out the first pitch Saturday before we play! What a way to start the season, let your friends know and lets show some support. See ya on the field, Coach Floied
practice, Wednesday, 3rd
Varsity will practice on the Babe Ruth field directly after school until 5:30. JV will practice in the hitting center from 7 till 8:30. Thanks, Coach Floied

practice - Monday Mar. 1st
After a long weekend, we will take tonight off. No practice today.
Blackman Tourney Champs !
What a way to start the season. This was a great weekend of baseball, topped off with a tough, hard fought win against a very good Blackman team. I am very proud of all the boys, JV and Varsity. JV played really well. The JV pitchers who came Saturday performed above expectations. I am pleased with their progress and that experience will pay off for this JV squad going into the season. The JV game was a success. I'm not worried about the score, we pitched some guys who have not gotten alot of experience, (and they did well) and we batted 14 players in the line-up. We got some hits, bunts and left some runners on base. Our goal was to get as many players "game" experience as we could and we accomplished that. This JV squad has the ability to win many games this year, and if they keep up the hard work they will. Varsity, WOW!!!! You guys worked your butts off this weekend. It felt like travel ball this weekend, playing 3 games in one day, and you guys never looked tired. Saturday we left a reputation as a powerful, well balanced baseball team. There were alot of people talking about the team that beat Blackman, now that's impressive. Everything we did in all 3 games Saturday was great, good defense, offense and pitching was "lights-out". The championship game Sunday was a struggle, we made defensive errors, did not hit the ball near as well as Saturday, and we watched strike three 7 times (only once Sat.). With all of that being said, we still found a way to win. And, championship teams find ways to win tough games. I am very proud to be your coach. We left Murfreesboro with a great reputation and I assume will be invited back for some more tourney's in the future. Now, let's get ready for the Cody Holder Invitational this weekend. Lets work hard and be gracious and respectable "hosts" to the teams traveling here. Let's play hard Saturday night and have fun in front of a home crowd. Good job, Coach Floied
