Good start to the tourney. If you hear any "crying" about the bracket, this is the exact bracket format that the 7-AAA high school district tourney is using! ie...Smyrna, Blackman, Riverdale, Siegal, etc.... Enough said!

I would like to thank the parents who continue to work very hard to make this a success. This is another big financial boost to our team. We need more help from you guys. Don't leave it up to the same ones to take care of it. Lets share in the workload, it benefits all of the players on the team. Friday night I need all of the adult help I can get. We will need to tarp the field after the late game. The weather does not look good for the weekend, we will update any changes as soon as possible.

Varsity, good job against S. Franklin, lets keep the pressure on the other teams and win this thing!

JV, your time is coming next week. You are in a favorable bracket, the first 3 games you play are teams you have beat. Lets get back to work and focus on winning it!

We host the varsity tournament this year. It will start Wednesday, with us playing South Franklin at 5:30 p.m. There will 2 games Wednesday, and we really need your help working it. This money will most likely help with next years team, so we need some parents to step up and help out. It will be a long weekend and hopefully you will see a CCMS champion at the end!

The JV tourney will start next week, we will get the times and dates out ASAP. We are in a pretty good bracket for that tourney. It will be at Harris.

Lets go get that championship guys! (both varsity and JV can do it!)

Wednesday, 8th grade night vs Grundy Co.

Wednesday we play Grundy Co. and will celebrate 8th grade night. We invite any of the younger siblings of our players (6th, 7th or 8th graders) to attend and wear their uniform (Little League or travel teams). They will go onto the field with varsity and participate in "warm-ups". Varsity will wear our white tops and bottoms, with red acces. and red hat.

I want to thank the 8th graders, this has been quite a season! You guys have worked VERY hard and deserve the great season you have had so far. There has been alot of sweat, bruises, and blood shed in the hitting center and on the field this year. I am very proud of all of you, and very humbled to be allowed the opportunity to coach you. You all have bright futures on and off the ballfield, keep the same work ethic and attitudes and you will succeed in every aspect of your future.

Now, the season does not end with 8th grade night, it continues with 2 varsity games against Grundy Co., a JV double-header against Tullahoma, a varsity tournament and an invite to the TSSAA state tourney! There is still alot of baseball to be played. I don't think we have played our best yet, we have not put together a "complete" game this season. When our offense, defense and pitching comes together at the same time, the opposition better "look out"!

Lets make that loss to Warren Co. burn and push us to play our best every single inning! Lets use that loss as motivation to be better than every team we face. Don't forget the sting that loss left on you and push yourself to not feel it again. This season will NOT end due to that loss, but it will catapult us to play better as the post-season begins.

Now, lets have a great 8th grade night, and leave the field with some great memories. Remember........"FINISH STRONG"!!!!!!!

vs Warren Co. (Friday)

We play away at Warren Co. Friday at 4:30 p.m. We need to be at the field at 3:30 p.m., we can meet at the Coffee County Middle School at 3:00 p.m. if anybody wants to follow us there. Varsity will wear grey pants, black hat, black vests and black acces. JV will wear grey uniforms with black acces. and black hat.

I will be at the hitting center today (Thursday) at 3 p.m., it is not mandatory, I realize parents have to work, but I will open it up for anybody that wants to get in a few swings. I will be there till about 4:30 p.m.

I want you guys well rested for the games Friday and Saturday. They are two HUGE conference games! We are getting closer to our season goals. We had a great practice Tuesday and lets carry that over to the games.

Spring Break / practice

Brandon got some bad news yesterday, he was involved in a collision during practice and the result is a fracture somewhere in his forearm/wrist. He is going to a specialist Thursday and will hopefully get good news. It is not his throwing arm, so keep your fingers crossed that he can return soon and keep up the GREAT pitching he has been doing. Please keep Brandon in your prayers and I will update as soon as I hear something.

Great Kids !!!

Just wanted to say how proud I am of our boys. We have swept Tullahoma, that has not been done since the last undefeated CCMS team! Great job taking it to our cross-town rivals. Now, don't let up on anybody, we will face the best every team has to offer. We have the target on our backs, and we will make somebody's season by upsetting us. DO NOT LET THAT HAPPEN!!!!!

I want every player and parent to know how proud I am to coach these guys. They are not only great ball players, they are great young men. They are respectable, and win with great poise and character. Thank you for the hard work and know that these boys deserve a "pat" on the back. You guys represent this school, this team, and this county very well!

Good week of baseball

This past week was a test of both physical and mental conditioning. We played several games and some were very close. I am proud of both squads, for showing their discipline and work ethics and playing very hard. JV, you guys are playing well. We still have some mistakes to correct, but we are closer than we have been in a while. You are learning to win, and that is important. We need to learn to win and not to accept losing. I know you guys are working and trying your hardest, keep it up and good things will start to happen. You have a winning season so far, lets make a run at some more wins and get better for the JV tournament at the end of the year.

Varsity, some hard fought wins so far this year. You have shown your character by refusing to lose! You NEVER give up, and it has paid off for you as we are one step closer to our season goals. Now, lets not have a "let down" with the upcoming games, in particular, Tullahoma. They have been our cross-town rivals for years, and last year was their year. Lets make this year OURS! Stay focused on one game at a time, and we have Tullahoma Monday afternoon. You are un-defeated, you have the target on your back, don't make another teams season a success by simply beating us, lets be dominant for the rest of the year. Work hard Monday and lets get another huge conference win!

Good Teams Always Find A Way To Win

Varsity:

I just want to say great job Varsity once again you had your backs to the wall and you young men never gave up and did what you had to do to win. I have said this before and will say it again I am very proud of the fight that you young men show. You may have taken another year off my life but getting to see the reaction of each of you after a win like this is worth it. Lets keep the drive alive and keep improving. We need to get better each game and by playing these close games like this one and against Harris, will only make this team stronger. It teaches us how to win the close games and how to never give up. I like how when substitutions were made and those subs stepped up to the plate and delivered.

Kain's big hit started the rally and Zack way to stay in the box and take the hit. Matthew you struggled early but came away with a missle that won the game. Garrett great win you pitched a heck of a game tonight and Peyton way to come in and close and hit the ball 3 for 3. Kyle great catch dude. Once again nice job lets keep the momentum

Junior Varsity:

Way to win the close one boys, yes we may have missed some signs but we are showing a huge improvement over last year. I like what I am seeing defensively and seeing that we are putting the bat on the ball. Lets be a little more aggressive on the bases, getting bigger leads and great jumps. I am a very aggressive coach and will take a chance when I have to so I need each of you paying full attention all of the time. I have to say that I am seeing the same fight in you guys that I am seeing in our Varsity team. You didn't give up and you fought to the end, I am very proud of each of you. Each player on this JV team needs to understand that you play a role on this team. This is a good team and we will get better I like the look of our defense and our batting order is getting close to where it needs to be.

Andrew Henly thank you for stepping up and hitting the ball tonight your hits were huge. Wormy way to run the bases and get us into the extra inning. Floied and Prater way to be patient in the box and great base running. Booth good hit to the opposite side to bring in the tieing run, and J.P. way to put the bat on the ball to give us the win. Pitchers did a great job tonight J.P., Dusty and Mr. Reliable-Tanner coming in to close. I wished I could get everyone in the game but when its a close game like this it really hard. I want to thank each of you for your time and support and your time is coming. Great win boys lets try to keep stringing the wins together.

We have a couple of guys who have been either sick or dealing with an injury, this would be a great game to work them back into the line-up and get them some time both hitting and in the field. Keep the great attitudes and work ethic up. You showed some class last weekend with the win over Tullahoma, don't let up, keep the pressure on everybody else and work towards the goals we set. The target is on your back this year. I'm very proud of you guys this far. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

CCMS Raiders Varsity vs Tullahoma Wildcats Varsity 3/27/10

This was the game that the Coffee County Middle School Raider Varsity team has been waiting for. The Raiders undefeated in conference play 2-0 were ready to battle against their cross town rival Tullahoma Wildcats.

For the Raiders, Peyton Meeker, in his 1st start of the year, took the mound and controled the Wildcats offense.
He threw 5 strong innings giving up 4 earned runs and 4 unearned runs on 5 hits with 3 walks and 4 K's.
Garrett Sadler came in the top of the 6th to put the final nails in the coffin, pitching 2 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit with 1 walk and 1 K.

Both pitchers did an outstanding job on the mound and the defense played well. There were a few errors made but the defense never got rattled and held their ground. For the outfield the strong winds made it tough to judge the ball but they made the plays when needed.

On offense the Raiders were patient in the box making the Tullahoma pitchers work. When a hit was needed it was there and scored the runs. The Raiders went through 3 of Tullahoma pitchers Groves, Banks and Sheffield and damage was done to each of them.

OFFENSIVE STATS FOR THE RAIDERS:
Barham - 1 hit with 1 walk & 3 stolen bases and 3 scores
Deford - 1 walk a 1 run scored
Meeker - 2 hits with 1 RBI & 1 walk with 3 stolen bases and 2 scores
Norrod - 4 walks with 1 stolen base and 1 score
Fulks - 1 hit with 1 RBI and 2 scores
Sadler - 2 hits with 1 RBI, 2 stolen bases and 2 scores
Holder - 2 walks and 1 score
Kyle Johnson - 2 walks with 1 score
Kain Johnson - 1 hit, 2 walks and 1 score

After the winds calmed down and the dust settled the Raiders walked away with the victory over Tullahoma 14 to 8.

I am proud of how these young men prepare themselves before each game. This game was big and we needed this win to get the Tullahoma past losses off of our backs. Now we need to regain our focus, we have played 3 conference games and came away with 3 victories, each of them being very important. Lets keep the momentum rolling and continue on our goal for the perfect season. The leadership on this team is getting stronger and the teamwork is starting to gel. I am very proud and honored to be part of this team. Stay focused and continue working hard to reach a goal that most teams can only dream about. YOU CAN DO IT!! FINISH STRONG RAIDERS!!!

vs Tullahoma JV (game summary)

It was a tough night for the JV squad. We have played everybody well except for Tullahoma's JV, they have had our number so far. There were a few bright spots in the game.

Pitching : Harryman = 1 1/3 innings with 3 K's, Thurmond 2 2/3 innings with 4 k's, Duncan 1 inning, Bryan 1 2/3 innings with 1 K. The only way we will get better pitching is to get on the mound and do it, there is room for improvement, but we are keeping a close eye on the JV pitch count and getting everyone the experience they need.

Hitting : Prater drew 2 walks & a score, Sain drew 1 walk and 2 stolen bases, Duncan 1 hit, Holmes 1 RBI, Rob and Duke 1 hit each, with Duke getting across the plate for another score.

Fielding : Henley made a couple of good plays at second, Slater made a nice play at third, Day made a good grab at second. I was proud of our 6th graders, for the last 2 innings Coach Meeker put in an all 6th grade infield, and they did a great job!

Remember, the purpose of the JV is to get better prepared for varsity. I think we have a good "core" of players to work with, and a good "core" of 6th graders to build next years JV team around. Lets keep working hard and getting better each game, there are alot of games left in the season. Work hard Monday afternoon against Seigel, they will be a very well coached team. Show them what you are capable of doing.

Friday is a JV double header vs Seigel. We do not have a bus for this game, so parents will have to drive. Be at school by 3:10pm, we need to try to get there by 4 pm. We will wear grey uniforms with black acces and black hat. Their field does not have lights, thats why we need to get there asap.

I have no word if it will be cancelled, I don't know if they have a field tarp or if their field drains well. I will let you know when I find out if it is called off.
